Kourosh Bakhtiar and Jody Meller founded LA-based luxury brand KJ Clothing as a school project in the winter of 2003. The Entrepreneurial design team decided to take their “project” from a mere concept to a dynamic reality. With no formal fashion training, KJ Clothing set out to fill a gap in retailers worldwide with a classy and sophisticated approach. Creating a line subtle enough for their parents, yet edgy enough for the socialites, hipsters and celebrities they come in contact with in LA, and their travels around the world.
The designers created a line that doesn’t overpower you, but still makes you look damn good. They focused on menswear, based on the simple, basic shirt that everyone loves and it soon became a success. KJ has since expanded into women’s wear, and a limited kid’s line. KJ’s line consists of kind hand, distressed t-shirts, thermals, hoodies, and assorted one-of-a-kind vintage western and army pieces.
Each piece individually touches many hands to establish the buttery feel of the fabrics and perfect fit for men and women. The garments are all “Made In LA,” using only the finest and most luxurious cottons. Each piece is silkscreened and embroidered, with original graphics, and designed to compliment the body and spirit. The collection will always stay clean and classic while KJ grows the brand, and expands the line.
